Ceramics Cutting & Pasting and Koji Pottery are both one of the characteristics of decoration for architecture in Southern China. This skill was spread throughout Taiwan during Ching Dynasty from Min and Yue. Ceramics Cutting & Pasting is an artifact mixed with mortar-shaping, mud-shaping, pottery-trimming, inlaying, painting, and so on. Moreover, the roofs of Taiwan’s temples are decorated with dragon & phoenix, towers, gods, monsters, four season plants, Koji pottery, and mud-shaping with color, and Ceramics Cutting & Pasting is the major part, which is also the precious cultural heritage of Taiwan.
Jin-Lu Ye followed his father, Zong Ye, who is the disciple of Master Nian, Hung-Hua, to learn Ceramic Cutting and Pasting at the age of 13. His works are spread in more than 300 temples all over Taiwan. He is not only hired by Ministry of the Interior as a Ceramics Cutting & Pasting teacher, but also a lecturer of Council for Cultural Affairs, Chinese Culture University, National University of Tainan, Tainan Municipal Art Center, and National Center for Research and Preservation of Cultural Properties. Moreover, he is also honored by the art division award of Taiwan Province, and elder traditional art award, the only one family who gets the Ceramic Cutting & Pasting award.
Ming-Ji Ye is brought up in a Ceramic Cutting & Pasting Family, and his grandfather, father, uncles, and cousins are all good at this skill. His interest in Ceramic Cutting & Pasting was cultivated by his grandfather, and he learned the expertise from his father. His works can be seen in more than ten relics, and more than ten temples. He is a Historic Reservation and Ceramics Cutting & Pasting teacher in Ministry of the Interior, and also a lecturer in Tainan Municipal Art Center, a councilor of Art Association, a committee of Traditional Art Museum, and a committee of Travelling Promotion Association.
